Harriers for Headway
2015 was the year that Stafford Harriers decided to raise money for a charity close to their heart "Headway."
Led by Shelley Burns and Lindsey Foster fund raising events included a fashion show at the start of the year and a charity bike/run that was held in
Market Square in the Summer.
Lots of Harriers dug deep and the total amount raised was £ 1650.00
On Saturday 19th March a cheque was donated to Esther Batho a Stafford Harrier who is utilising Headway North Staffs facilities for her rehabilitation
following a brain tumour in 2014.

As you are all probably aware by now, our dear friend and fellow Harrier, Esther Batho is currently undergoing intense rehabilitation following a recent,
major operation to try and remove a brain tumor.
Esther who is an inspiration to us all is overcoming each and every challenge faced with grit and determination and is showing us every day how strong in
body and mind she really is.
Following a recent visit to see Esther at The Haywood’s she asked myself, Shelley Burns, Anne Coghlan, Lindsey Foster and Rachel Davis if we could raise
some money for the charity that have provided help and support to both her and Steve over the last few months: HEADWAY NORTH STAFFS.
With a request like that, how could we refuse, and hence HARRIERS FOR HEADWAY has been born. Our pledge to Esther is to raise as much money as we
can for this great charity that is getting our friend and yours, back on her feet and in to her running trainers once again. From little acorns grow big trees and so our aim and vision is to make
2015 Esther’s charity year.
We appreciate that money is tight and that “sponsored runs” can be tedious and lets face it we are Harriers and running is what we do!……So over the next
12 months we will be organising and facilitating a number of fund raising events from football matches to fashion shows to name but a few, with all funds raised going to HEADWAY. The aim is to be
able to present Esther and Steve with the final amount raised at the annual Harriers Christmas party 2015.
At this stage we would gratefully ask that you keep an eye out for the upcoming events and get involved!!!!! They will amount to lots of fun times ahead
but all will be revealed in due course……
In view of our ongoing plans if anyone wants to do any one off events for HEADWAY, or have any idea's, please can they contact either myself or one of
the other Headway committee members (see below) in order that all funds raised can be added to the HEADWAY account.
All HEADWAY charity events will be advertised on the front page of the website and have a link to this page.

Harriers for Headway
1ST OFFICIAL FUNDRAISING EVENT.
On the 27th of March the first event for the Harriers for Headway Charity took place. It was a fashion show at the Cricket Club and almost 100 ladies
turned up to the event.
Over £500 was raised and the ladies who organised it want to give a big thank you to everyone who turned up. It was a great start to the years
fundraising. Keep an eye open for the next event.

Harriers for Headway
Our second Headway fundraising event on Saturday 31st May in the Market Square, was a huge success and after a few technical issues ( one of the
treadmills refused to work) we were up and running, literally, and cycling.
The Harriers for Headway would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came down and took part, and an extra special thank you must go to Tracey
Burrows and her husband who loaned us their van, Joe Atherton who was a huge help supplying most of the technical equipment and Craig Baxter for promoting us throughout the day!
Needless to say we smashed our target of 113.2 miles to Shell Island. In fact we went to Shell Island and back and then to Shell Island again!!! A total
of 339 miles.
We raised a massive £300 so once again a massive thank you to everyone involved.
