Junior News 2013

The Staffordshire Network relays at Rowley Park

Saturday 18th May 2013

Report by George Hodkinson

They were something to be part of as it was lovely and sunny and great running conditions.
Another brilliant turn out from Stafford Harriers Juniors who entered five teams of four.
Other teams taking part from: Trentham, Cannock & Stafford, Burton and Newcastle.
Everybody had a great time in which it was a fun event with every finisher earning a freddo chocolate bar.
Stafford came away with 1st place in the under 11’s (George Hodkinson, Will Buckley, Jack Sandy and George Davies),
whilst the under 15’s mixed team(Joe Smith, Hannah Talbot, Ellie Baxter, Jack Hodkinson) came a creditable 2nd place behind C&S. There were also some good first time performances from the many new juniors who were a credit to our coaches.
Finally, thanks to the many parents and coaches who supported us around the course.

Harriers Junior runs all the way to the Seniors

Congratulations to Lauren Gee who has completed a first for the club.

Lauren is the first Junior member of Stafford Harriers to have competed in cross country events at every age level and progressed to the senior team.

Lauren joined the club as a junior member 10 years ago, since the age of 8 she has competed for the club every season in the North Staffs Cross County League. Starting out as a team member in the under 11 age group Lauren has progressed through the various age categories, but since that first season she has never had a full team.

That all changed on Saturday (28/09/13) when the new cross country season commenced and Lauren raced as a member of the ladies senior team which included her mum Tracey.

Hopefully Lauren has started a trend and we will see many more Juniors follow in her footsteps.
