Shugborough Relays 2016 - "Huge Thanks to all"
On behalf of all at Stafford Harriers we would like to express our thanks to those who helped to make this year’s relays such a successful event.
In 2015 we relocated to a new course, which came with some new challenges & many lessons to learn.
Since last year we have been working very hard to listen to feedback & seek improvements and ensure we maintain the Relays as a Great event on the Race calendar.
& despite the weather omen’s working against us and forcing us to reschedule by 3 weeks, a good time was had by all.
Big thanks to Shugborough for getting the grounds back on track following the mud & sodden conditions during June.
Firstly, thanks to all those who entered & re-entered, following the postponement.
Without runners the event wouldn’t happen in the first place.
Secondly, a huge thanks to this year’s sponsors Stafford Audi & Go Ape for their generous support.
Thirdly, a big thanks to our chip timing / race entries team from JC Racing Solutions for the tremendous work & professionalism in handling all of the entries in advance,
the postponement & re-entering of teams, late changes etc.. & all of the business end of timing on the night.
Finally, a massive thanks goes to all helpers, who without none of this would be possible.
· The Race sub-committee for all of the advance work.
· Marshals & helpers during the event.
· & helpers late at night (& the day after) for the take down.
· Special thanks for Helpers & volunteers who were able to give up their time during the day to build
the course (twice);
Craig Baxter, Ed Smith, Joe Atherton, Chris Elsley, Ian Hodkinson, Steve McHugh, Colin Mitchell, Sara Broome, Chris Skellern, Ian Wood, Brian Langston, Bill Whitworth, Char Black, Leon
Without these few individuals the relays just wouldn’t be possible.
On behalf of all the participants from Wolves & Bilston at last nights relays many thanks for such a great night.
We took 30 teams with people aged between 10 and 80. For quite a number of our beginners it was their first competitive event.
Thanks to all your volunteers for putting on such a great event. We will be back again next year.
The course is an accurate 2 miles of tarmac drives and solid woodland pathways. Teams comprise of 4 competitors representing Running or Athletic clubs, groups of friends, work
